AdSense Revamps Channels Page and Functions

Google had completely revamped the Channels page under the AdSense Setup tab. Besides cleaning up the design by housing each product on its own sub-tab, now publishers can access, activate, deactivate, remove and rename the channels easier.

The change allows publishers to add new custom channels faster. It doesn’t refresh the page until you press the Add channels button. Thanks to the new Ajax interface. We are able to enter multiple custom channel names, one per line with the remaining counter at the top of the form displaying the number of channels since the last addition.

That might be good or otherwise. Now publishers could easily notice which channel the code is using simply by looking at the source code of the page. On the other hand, it may reveal too much information about which pages we are tracking. The “spying” becomes easier as the name of channels might contain hints.

Finally, publishers can add a new channel immediately on the product page while customizing the products by clicking on the Add new channel link. A JavaScript dialog box will appear and automatically create and insert the new channel on the fly.
